PRESERVATION DETECTIVES Become a Preservation Detective at the Museum at Eldridge Street

Sundays, October 18 & 25 at 1 PM at the Museum at Eldridge Street

Every family has a unique story. Share your own while you hear fabulous tales from history. Visit the mythical village of Chelm, meet legendary families from long ago and embark on a magical journey. Document your family’s one of a kind story in a personalized storybook.

Preservation Detectives is presented by the Museum at Eldridge Street. The Museum, founded as the Eldridge Street Project in 1986, presents the culture, history and traditions of the great wave of Jewish immigrants to the Lower East Side, drawing parallels with the diverse cultural communities that have settled in America. Concerts, literary events, art installations, workshops for school children, and other cultural and educational programs at the site serve audiences of diverse ages and backgrounds.

Tickets for Preservation Detectives are $15 per family.

Sundays, November 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 at 1 PM at the Museum at Eldridge Street

Each month, The Museum at Eldridge Street presents a new theme for our popular family program, Preservation Detectives. For November: The Sabbath Special.

What Sabbath recipes, customs and objects did immigrants from Eastern Europe bring with them to America? How did these traditions evolve in a new country? Handle ritual objects, hear music, and prepare a delicious braided challah as we delve into the rich customs associated with the Jewish Day of Rest.
