Annual Brooklyn children's sports and fitness expo is a free family event.
On Saturday June 13, 2009 from 10am to 6pm at Boys and Girls High School, located on 1700 Fulton Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, thousands of school age children will have an opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports clinics along with health tests, screenings, seminars and demonstrations - all free of charge at the Brooklyn Children’s Sports & Fitness Expo.
The expo presented by Body Sculpt of New York returns to Brooklyn in a continued effort to reduce child obesity rates among the boroughs youth community.
Obesity is a major health concern in New York City. It is a problem that crosses generations, affecting children, parents, and grandparents. “We want to encourage all Brooklyn children and adults to participate in the 2009 expo with the hopes that they will find an activity that they enjoy and choose to follow a healthy and productive lifestyle,” says Vincent Ferguson, creator of the Children’s Sports & Fitness Expo and president and founder of Body Sculpt of New York, Inc., a not-for-profit health and fitness organization.
The Brooklyn Children’s Sports & Fitness Expo will bring over 25 sports activities ranging from track and field, fencing, wrestling, golf, jump rope, step dance and volleyball to school age children to encourage more physical fitness. Nutrition and weight counseling, vision, dental, hearing and asthma screenings will also be provided as a means to promote healthier lifestyles for the entire family. The event will feature a special performance by Ringling Bros.
