What is Big Apple Greeter? A not-for-profit organization
whose mission is to enhance New York City's worldwide image and to enrich the New
York experience by connecting Business and leisure travelers with knowledgeable
and enthusiastic Volunteers. A free public service that helps visitors discover
the hidden treasures of New York City the world's most exciting and diverse city.
A way for New Yorkers to show their pride in the city
and its many neighborhoods and a way to give something back to the city they love.
The most exciting and rewarding way to experience the Big Apple! Knowledgeable and
enthusiastic volunteers known as "Greeters promote New York's small town charm by
accompanying visitors on 2-4 hour journeys in any of the five boroughs, free of
charge.
On your next visit to New York, you are invited to spend
some time with a friendly Big Apple Greeter, who will show you a slice of their
favorite parts of the Big Apple. To make it even better, courtesy of the MTA, you
will zip around by subway and bus for the day visiting, on average 3 distinct neighborhoods.
