Overview:
Gem of the Ocean chronicles the African-American experience of the 20th century.
Written by two Pulitzer prize winner August Wilson, this magical journey
through the lives of Aunt Esther and Citizen Barlow in the early 1900's is the
ninth work composed by the author but it actually relates the beginning of the
series.
The role of Aunt Esther is played by Tony award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad. The production is directed by Kenny Leon and other performers are Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Lisa Hamilton.
