Lestat
Location: Palace Theatre, 1554 Broadway, New York
Hours: Begins April 25 (previews start March 25)
Admission: $65-$110
Lestat brings vampires to Broadway! Inspired by Ann Rice’s best-selling
“Vampire Chronicles,” the show will boast the spookiest staging ever on the
Great White Way, along with the first theatrical score by the legendary
songwriting duo of Elton John and Bernie Taupin and a book by Linda Woolverton
(whose credits include “Beauty and the Beast”)
All this could only come from the dark mind of Rice.
It’s the richly hued story of a man who escapes the tyranny of his oppressive family, only
to have his life taken from him.
Plunged into the immortal world of vampires, Lestat
tries to balance his innate sense of good with the deeply primal need to survive.
The musical stars Hugh Panaro in the title role.
(Panaro is one of the few actors to play both the Phantom and Raoul in the Broadway production
of “The Phantom of the Opera”).
Also on board are Carolee Carmello as Gabrielle, Jim
Stanek as Louis, Roderick Hill as Nicolas, Michael Genet as Marius and Allison Fischer as
Claudia.
The production is directed by Robert Jess Roth, with
musical staging by Matt West.
