Ring of Fire
Location: Ethel Barrymore Theater, 243 W. 47th St., New York
Hours: Varies by performance
Admission: $86.25-$101.25
Ring of Fire is a brand-new musical paying lavish tribute to the music of the
late, great Johnny Cash. Since his death in 2003, the life and times of the
country singer have become the stuff of legend, and the show is a heartfelt,
in-depth look at the hero’s wide catalog of songs.
Cash was a musical poet, and his songs told stories.
Those tales of struggle and success, set smack in
the heartland of America, are brought to life in this innovative staging.
The show is not to be confused with the popular,
autobiographical Cash film “Walk The Line.” In fact, the role of Cash is played by … nobody.
The show was created by Tony Award-winner Richard
Maltby Jr. (of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “Fosse” fame), and boasts an equally award-winning cast
featuring Jarrod Emick (“Damn Yankees”), Lari White and Broadway vet Cass Morgan.
Many of Cash’s greatest songs – “Country Boy,”
“A Thing Called Love,” “Ring of Fire,” “I Walk The Line,” “The Man In Black” and many others
– are brought vividly to life.
