The Producers is a clever and hilarious Broadway musical that took New York by storm when it opened 5 years ago. Though the cast has changed a number of times, the show continues to be a hit with audiences, with shows sold out nearly every weekend of the year.

Based on the 1968 movie of the same name, this musical is the story of a down-and-out theatrical Producer and his accountant friend who devise a hair-brained scheme to raise an excessive amount of movie for a Broadway show that’s sure to be a bomb, planning to pocket any remaining unused money and living the high life forevermore.

The songs in The Producers are entertaining and sing-able, the script hilarious, and the cast talented.

Perhaps that’s why it’s earned more Tony Awards than any Broadway show throughout history. Truly a funny show with great tunes, this musical is perfect for older teens and adults but probably not appropriate for elementary and middle school children.
