The Wedding Singer is an all-new Broadway play based on the smash-hit 1998
motion picture of the same name. The funny and romantic story is all about
luckless rock-star wanna-be Robbie Hart. In New Jersey, he’s everybody’s favorite
wedding singer, but then his own fiancée leaves him stranded at the altar.
He sets out to make every wedding as disastrous
as his own was, until a waitress named Julie enters his life.
There’s just one problem – she’s about to be
married herself. Robbie sets out to win Julia’s affection.
The cast is headed by Stephen Lynch (“Comedy Central”)
as Robbie. Known for his musicianship and appearances on TV’s “Comedy Central,” he is making
his Broadway debut. The cast also features Tony Award-nominated Laura Benanti (“The Sound
of Music”) as Julia.
The music is by Matthew Sklar, the book by Tim
Herlihy and Chad Beguelin, and the lyrics by Chad Beguelin.
