The Color Purple, best known by many as a movie starring daytime talk show host Oprah Winfrey, has come to Broadway in a new form…as a musical.
With a wonderful story based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Alice Walker, The Color Purple is the tale of a courageous woman who triumphs over great adversity to discover her voice in the world.
If you enjoyed the book or the movie, you’ll most likely be delighted with the musical, which offers audiences great diversity in its musical score, including songs written in jazz, ragtime, gospel, and blues styles.
