Location: Yankee Stadium, Bronx
The New York Yankees are the most successful and storied team in baseball, a perennial powerhouse that has won 34 American League championships and 23 World Series.
Few family outings are as fun as a ballgame, and a trip to see the Yankees is a special event indeed.
The team plays 81 regular-season games at fabled, 58,000-seat Yankee Stadium, its home since 1923.
It’s been remodeled and modernized, but it still retains the feel of the ballpark where Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio toiled. (Those are other greats are saluted via monuments in centerfield.)
Like most teams, the Yankees have long realized the importance of attracting families to the park and guaranteeing a safe and pleasant experience.
Fans in the Bronx can become quite exuberant, but it’s calmer in the several alcohol-free family sections. The park also offers baby-changing areas, and fold-up strollers are permitted.
Food can be as important as the action on the field. Hot dogs are the main fare, but there are delicacies like sausage with sweet peppers and onions, and there’s a bakery boasting cookies, pie, cake and rolls.
