 Marvelous Manhattan Tours

Location: PMB #111, 244 Madison Ave., New York

Marvelous Manhattan Tours is unlike any company you know, and the tours are unlike any you have ever experienced. Their mission is not just to show you the city, but to have you live it, breathe it, and ultimately understand it. Unlike other tour companies, they don‘t cram you onto a large bus. They don‘t force you to listen to an impersonal tour guide who tells you to look to the left, look to the right. They are human and real. Their tours are small and personal and combine minibus touring with many stops and strolls. We do this so you can experience the city first-hand, from street level. Our walks are not long, but they give you the chance to see tall buildings, stretch your legs, snap photos, and learn about the city. The driving force behind Marvelous Manhattan‘s philosophy is your tour guide, Stephen Duer. Stephen is passionate about New York City, and for the last thirteen years has dedicated himself to unveiling New York City‘s most amazing sights and attractions.

What‘s Included
Our goal is to make your tour experience as enjoyable and hassle-free as possible. Our price includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, a comfortable, clean tour bus with a licensed driver, and a fabulous tour guide who provides detailed explanations and personalized service. Lunch at Katz‘s is a la carte, and is not included in the price.

Pick-up/Drop-off Information

Our royal coach picks you up in the morning and drops you off at the end of the tour. Alternatively, you can meet at our designated pick-up point in Times Square. The pick-up point is at 47th and Broadway, in front of Starbucks, on the Broadway side of the store. Hotel pick-ups are between 8:15 and 9:15 am (exact time varies depending on the number of customers and will be provided the day before the tour). The tour ends at approximately 3:45 pm, and hotel drop-offs take place after that.

The Royal Tour (Full-Day)

The Royal Tour is Marvelous Manhattan‘s most popular tour. Hosted by the King of New York City sightseeing, Stephen Duer, you spend a full day covering all the sights of Manhattan, from downtown to uptown. Stephen‘s royal coach (a 25-passenger minibus with comfortable seats and oversize picture windows) picks you up at your hotel or meets you at a central pick-up location. At each stop, Stephen introduces you to a new part of this amazing city, with articulate, fun, knowledgeable commentary.

Our experience begins in midtown, at Times Square in the high-energy Theatre District, with an explanation of area history and a stop at Sardi‘s, the Broadway Hall of Fame. The city begins to make sense as King Stephen introduces you to the Fashion, Fur and Flower Districts. We then see the famous Flatiron and Empire State Buildings before heading downtown. The first neighborhood you will see is unlike any other place in the city. The Meatpacking District is a place where upscale galleries and boutiques are literally next door to functioning meat packing plants. Cafes and local eateries ensure round-the-clock activity ... and coincidentally, the area also provides a haven for celebrities seeking anonymity. Soho, the next neighborhood we visit, will be a true experience as you learn about its history, art, and architecture. After Soho, we venture into the Civic District, home to the NYPD, courthouses, and of course, City Hall. We briefly visit the Woolworth Building, then proceed to the site of the former World Trade Center and Winter Garden Plaza. From there, we go to Wall Street with an optional view of the New York Stock Exchange, then stop for a spectacular view of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. We top off our morning with views of the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges spanning the East River before stopping for a well-deserved lunch break. Appropriately, we eat lunch at the king of delis--Katz‘s on the Lower East Side.

After lunch, we head uptown to see the United Nations, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center (including the Today Show studio set), Radio City Music Hall, and St. Patrick‘s Cathedral. Next we proceed to the Upper West Side, where the King shows you the splendors of Central Park (including a beautiful and picturesque view of the New York City skyline), museums, and apartments of the famous. The final stop is the ever-changing Harlem, where we‘ll see the Apollo Theatre, historic brownstones, and a newly reborn 125th Street. The homeward drive down Fifth Avenue passes Jackie Onassis‘ apartment building, Museum Mile, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. At the conclusion of the tour, you‘ll be dropped off at your hotel or at the pickup point.

Start time 9:15am, approximate end time 3:45pm.

Price: $85 Adults, $80 Seniors, $65 Children under 12

Gems of New York (Half-Day)

Gems of New York is a half-day tour that covers midtown and downtown. It follows a modified itinerary as The Royal Tour. We see fewer sights, but cover each of them in greater depth. We also build in time for you to browse Little Italy and Chinatown, picking up a coffee or souvenirs. After lunch, you‘re free to explore the city on your own.

Start time 9:15am, approximate end time 1:30pm.

Price $65 Adults, $63 Seniors, $53 Children under 12

King for a Day (Private Custom Tour)

King for a Day is our customized tour option. Marvelous Manhattan Tours can arrange tours for you, your royal family, or your entire kingdom. We can create customized tours of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, or anyplace you‘d like to visit, conducted in English or in Spanish by a native Spanish speaker.
